(For Rowan)
From great labor and pain
Burst forth this green flame,
Soul of wonder and fear,
Tiger Lily, untamed.
Your lion’s roar rang,
Then wolf’s whimper was heard.
You’ll take years to coax
Into brave, soaring bird.
But Cignus you are,
Black as pitch, white as cloud,
Blank paper, dark ink,
Claim your wings and be proud.
