I was never a two-tree person ’til this year.
I needed the Christmas cheer.
A lone pine, in the past, was all I could muster,
Two trees? Too much fuss and bluster.
Then the kids left,
And feeling bereft,
I needed that extra tree.
I needed some holiday glee.
Cold days are shorter now,
My days from disarray to order now.
But I won’t whine,
Or pine.
I’ll put up two trees.
I’ll spend more time on my knees…
I’ll even have two nativities.
